Making its debut on March 12, the Rabbit hOle brings a brand new (and totally immersive) literary experience to North Kansas City, taking the tales of favorite children’s books and transforming them into interactive museum experiences.

The result? An endlessly whimsical, one-of-a-kind children’s institution that stretches across multiple floors and invites guests to fully immerse themselves in a world of wonder.

More new additions

A new era of exploration has arrived at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium. Inside the 650,000-gallon Sobela Ocean Aquarium, six distinct habitats accommodate undersea life of all kinds, cultivating atmospheres that range from warm coastline climates to the open ocean. In total, the aquarium features 34 unique exhibits.

Or head to Pennway Point, where a soaring Ferris wheel takes you high above the city for panoramic skyline views and a miniature golf course waits for you once you’ve made your return to the ground floor.

Sports fans rejoice

Catch some of the country’s best college basketball teams in action during the Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships at T-Mobile Center. The Women’s Championship takes place March 7-12, followed by the Men’s Championship, March 12-16. With an expanded field of 14 teams participating in each tournament, the event features a total of 26 games over the course of 10 days—along with endless thrills and impressive shots.

Plus, catch even more hoops action during the MIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, March 6-10, and the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship, March 21-26. Celebrating its 25th year, Planet Comicon Kansas City is one of the nation’s largest and longest-running comic book and pop culture events. Explore displays throughout the Kansas City Convention Center’s Bartle Hall and hear from an impressive list of guest speakers, March 8-10.

Just a few days later, explore hundreds of auto innovations during the Kansas City Auto Show, March 14-17. Admission is free for children 7 and under.

Favorite family attractions

Crown Center is an essential stop for spring break fun, boasting entertainment, dining, special exhibits and more under one roof. Kaleidoscope is a can’t-miss experience, offering free admission and giving kids the chance to turn leftover materials from Hallmark’s manufacturing process into their own pieces of creative artwork.

There are many more imaginative adventures to be found in the heart of Downtown KC at Legoland Discovery Center, home to more than 2 million Lego bricks. Head next door to Sea Life Kansas City Aquarium, an amazing world teeming with underwater life—more than 5,000 sea creatures, to be exact.

At nearby Union Station, snag a family photo within one of Kansas City’s most striking public spaces, then head inside Science City. The adjacent Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium and Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre promise even more immersive fun.

The art and science of everyday life are on vivid display at the Regnier Family Wonderscope Children's Museum. Home to hands-on opportunities to explore planes, trains, waterways, kitchens, gardens and so much more, you'll be transported to a new world in each whimsical room of the STEAM-oriented space.
