Join us all month long for the "Cycles of Change" in Science City! Featuring hands-on activities, themed demos and educator-led programming. See the full list of activities below.
June Activities:
Creative Corner: Zentangle Scratch Swirl – Using scratch paper, create your very own zentangle using fun texture tools. Zentangles are abstract pieces of art that are created using simple structure patterns over and over. When you’re done you can take your artwork home with you.
SOS: Seasons of the Solar System – Did you know that different planets in our solar system have seasons just like we do here on Earth? Learn more about the similarities, and differences, between the planet we call home and other celestial bodies.
Maker Studio: Ammonite Shell Pendants – Use 3D printed ammonite shells, jewelry wire, and satin cord to create you a wire wrapped pendant. You’ll also learn about how ammonite shells grow and expand, adding layers as the creatures get older and older. Plus, you can take your pendant home.
In the digital lab, guests can program a dash robot, make their own stop-motion video, learn how to build the strongest bridge, and mix colors on the light table.
Nature Works: Animal Chats – Join us at 11 am and 3 pm to learn more about our animals!
Periodic Table: Stop by Periodic Table to see a variety of different scientific demonstrations. This month’s offerings are:
· From Caterpillar to Butterfly: Learn about the amazing transformation that happens when a cuddly caterpillar goes through its metamorphosis.
· Ultraviolet Ray Detector: Use UV beads to create a bracelet that lets you know when it’s time to step out of the sun and protect your skin.
· Sharing the Air with Plants: Take a microscopic look at how plants breathe, and how they help us breathe every single day.
